Another large group co-hosted by Allan Johnson was fishing this week in Ambergris Caye. We had skill levels ranging from beginner to expert on this trip. The weather was great for everyone, and all fisherman caught Bonefish and even had a handful of shots at Permit
New to saltwater fly fishing, Eric with his first bonefish on the fly
Allan conducted casting instruction using his proven techniques and was able to get Eric Fisk literally "hooked' on fly-fishing. The day after his lesson, Eric was able to catch bonefish on our tailing flats, which can be extremely challenging. Congratulations Eric!
Pure white sand flat with a big bonefish caught tailing mid-morning
With some convincing, we were able to get one of our guides to give up his secret spot and take us to one of the most remarkable white sand flats in Belize. What a treat. This flat was nearly 2 miles long and well hidden. It was mid-calf deep with pure white sand and was literally covered with big tailing bonefish all day. We spotted several singles in the 8 pound range. Although none that big were caught, we did manage a few in the 5-6 pound range. We must have waded 4 miles that day, but it was well worth it.
