Our guests can split or combine their flats experience with our epic bluewater fishery that lies just one mile off the beach. The barrier reef provides a boundary for warm ocean currents in the carribean sea. This is basically a conveyor belt for the marine food chain. The reef lies just one mile off our beach, and anglers can target Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Bonito, and even Kingfish. At the reefs edge, the water can drop as much as 400 feet in the first few hundred yards.
Getting up close and personal with bait and Mahi-Mahi
Weedlines and baitballs are a common sight out in the open currents. Our guides ussually look for visual cues such as birds diving, flotsam, and breaking fish to determine an approach. Heavier gear is necessary out here because of the possibility of the unkown. We also have live and chum bait available to bring fish nearer to the boat for the ultimate thrill.
Mahi-Mahi are amongst the worlds most beautiful fish
When the conditions are right, it is not uncommon to see multiple species attacking prey fish that are helplessly balled up in defense. Although we protect our flats species, we occasionally keep our bluewater catches for the dinner table. Nothing beats fresh sushi on the dock with friends and a Belikin Beer.
