Our October trip to Belize was a great success with all anglers getting into quality tailing fish. Although the Permit were absent, the amount of big bonefish tailing on every tide made for great fun. Shots at Tarpon at the end of the week were a great highlight. Our next trip is scheduled for February 28-March 7th 2009. This trip is unique because it will allow you to get hands on casting instruction from a certified instructor as well as techniques from our Guide Master on fishing Belize grand-slam waters. Allan Johnson will be conducting beginner thru advanced casting daily at the resort, and Mark Branle from BFZ will be hosting a series of informal classroom sessions followed by a Q&A exchange .
Tailing bonefish like this were a common sight during the October trip
The February trip will include 7 night stay at our resort, 6 days guided fishing, breakfast and lunch daily, beer and soda, round trip air transfers from Belize City, and all taxi service during your stay. Dinner vouchers will be provided by participating restaurants and will include discounts and free beverages. All instruction will be done before or after your fishing and will be one-on-one with Allan Johnson.
Changing flies and accurate presentations pruduced this nice bone
The February time frame is usually our best Permit and big Bonefish month. This time of the year, the Bonefish are migrating, and shots at fish in the 6-10 pound range are common. Permit are usually in big schools in our back bay flats, so finding them is easy. We recommend an 8 weight as an all around Bonefish rod for this time of the year, and a 9-10 weight for Permit. We like the 8 weight for the bigger bones and for the occasional Permit that show up on the Bonefish flats.
