Our master Belize fishing guide is the legendary Omar Arceo. We are proud to have him on our staff for many reasons. Omar has guided over 12 years on Ambergris Caye as is considered to have more knowledge of the flats than anyone. Prior to professional fly fishing guiding on Ambergris Caye, Omar was a commercial fisherman in our local offshore waters. Proper training and experience is the only way to be a successful fishing guide in Belize, and we have the best of both worlds with Omar. During his time off, he can be spotted fly fishing the waters of Belize and Ambergris Caye.

Over the past 5 seasons, Omar has trained and mentored our staff of professional Belize fishing guides to the point that they are truly world class fisherman and Belize Guides. Customer relationships is also a priority with Omar, and he has stressed the importance of this to all of his “students”. Each of our Belize fishing guides has a distinct specialty that they have developed over the years. Some of them are as simple as knot and leader construction, and some are as complex as current and tide effect on certain flats. Recently, one of our Ambergris guides has found a particular area that always produces Tarpon on an early morning outgoing tide. On his days off, he spent so much time on this flat that he observed this pattern for weeks. Now, when clients who seek tarpon are looking for our best guide, we know who to turn to. Selecting a fly fishing guide or fishing guide in Belize is a very important process that needs to be taken seriously. If you are not purchasing an entire package with us, that is okay. Our BFZ guides will accommodate you by picking you up and dropping you off at your resort. A full days fishing usually starts at 7AM and is finished between 3:30 and 4PM. Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages are always included with our fishing trips in Belize.

This year, our newest Belize fly fishing guide is Darryl. He has been a resident of Belize his entire young life, and we are proud to have him full-tiime as a fishing guide in Belize. His passion is fly fishing for Tarpon, and he really has an instinct for finding fish year round in our back country flats. He is calm, patient, and has great eyes for fish in the brackish waters.
